News Synopsis

Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced its latest high-performance electric vehicle, the IONIQ 6 N, at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England. As the brand’s second performance-focused EV following the IONIQ 5 N, this unveiling highlights Hyundai’s growing commitment to the electric performance segment.

Blistering Performance: 650 PS and 0–100 km/h in 3.2 Seconds

The IONIQ 6 N delivers exceptional speed and acceleration. Equipped with dual electric motors, it generates up to 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque when the N Grin Boost feature is activated. Thanks to N Launch Control, the EV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 257 km/h. These specifications firmly position the IONIQ 6 N among the fastest electric sedans in its class.

Advanced Battery and Charging Technology

At the heart of the IONIQ 6 N lies an 84.0 kWh battery pack, powering two motors—166 kW at the front and 282 kW at the rear—for a combined 448 kW in standard mode. The vehicle supports ultra-fast 350 kW charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions. This provides drivers with rapid recharging capabilities for daily use or track days.

Track-Ready Chassis and Aerodynamics

The suspension and chassis of the IONIQ 6 N have been extensively re-engineered for dynamic performance. It features stroke-sensing electronically controlled suspension dampers, which automatically adapt to driving conditions for a sportier and more comfortable ride.

On the aerodynamic front, enhancements include a swan neck rear spoiler, wider fenders, and other exterior tweaks that help achieve a drag coefficient of 0.27, while also increasing downforce for improved stability at high speeds.

Innovative N Division Technology

The IONIQ 6 N incorporates several key innovations from Hyundai’s N division, developed through motorsport expertise:

  • N e-Shift: Simulates gear shifting for a more traditional performance driving feel.

  • N Active Sound+: Offers customizable synthetic engine sound for enhanced auditory feedback with multiple sound profiles.

  • N Drift Optimizer: Allows users to fine-tune the vehicle's drift dynamics, ideal for performance driving or track events.

These features combine to provide a more immersive and engaging EV driving experience—uncommon in electric sedans.

Enhanced Driving Features and Track-Focused Tools

Other key features include:

  • N Grin Boost: Temporarily increases power output for 10 seconds during spirited driving.

  • N Launch Control: Optimizes power delivery for faster acceleration off the line.

  • N Track Manager: Logs and analyzes performance data during track driving sessions, helping drivers improve lap times.

These tools underline the IONIQ 6 N’s readiness for both road and track use.

Dimensions and Exterior Options

The IONIQ 6 N measures:

  • Length: 4,935 mm

  • Width: 1,940 mm

  • Height: 1,495 mm

  • Wheelbase: 2,965 mm

It will be offered in six exterior colours, including a new Performance Blue Pearl, exclusive to the N lineup. Hyundai will also introduce N performance parts for further customization, drawing inspiration from its motorsport division.

Hyundai’s N Legacy and Vision

Hyundai’s N performance sub-brand originated from the company’s participation in global motorsports. With the successful launch of the IONIQ 5 N in 2023, Hyundai set a benchmark in performance-oriented EVs. The IONIQ 6 N takes this vision further, integrating electrification with motorsport technologies to cater to driving enthusiasts.

Goodwood Festival Showcase

At the Goodwood event, Hyundai showcased its full N portfolio, including the IONIQ 5 N, IONIQ 6 N, and other motorsport-based models. The cars were displayed at Hyundai’s booth and featured in hill climb events, giving enthusiasts a close-up look at Hyundai’s electrified performance future.

Competing in the Electric Performance Sedan Segment

The IONIQ 6 N enters a competitive arena, taking on other high-performance electric sedans from legacy and emerging automakers. With its unique combination of motorsport tech, innovative EV features, and premium styling, it is well-positioned to challenge the likes of the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, and BMW i4 M50.
