Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has officially introduced the much-anticipated Rebel 500 cruiser motorcycle to the Indian market. Priced at ₹5.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram), the motorcycle marks Honda’s entry into the mid-size cruiser segment in India. The Rebel 500 is part of the brand’s premium BigWing portfolio, targeting enthusiasts looking for a blend of performance, style, and comfort.
Bookings for the Rebel 500 are now open at select BigWing Topline dealerships located in Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The first batch of deliveries will commence in June 2025. Customers can also place orders via the official Honda BigWing website, making the booking process more accessible across India.
The Rebel 500 is available in a single Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic colour variant. Its design language reflects a retro-inspired bobber style, characterized by a low stance, minimalist bodywork, and chunky tyres. The motorcycle combines old-school cruiser charm with modern elements, appealing to both veteran riders and young enthusiasts.
At the launch, Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President, and CEO of HMSI, emphasized the motorcycle’s emotional and stylistic appeal.
"The Rebel 500 is more than just a motorcycle — it’s a statement of style, performance, and freedom."
The Honda Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 45.59 bhp at 8,500 RPM and 43.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 RPM. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, optimized for smooth power delivery and a signature cruiser-like exhaust note.
The focus of the engine is on torque-rich performance, making it ideal for relaxed cruising and urban commutes alike.
One of the standout features of the Rebel 500 is its low seat height of just 690mm, making it accessible to a wide range of riders. The ergonomically designed handlebars and forward-set foot pegs offer a comfortable, laid-back riding posture.
Built on a tubular steel frame, the motorcycle maintains a sturdy structure while keeping its weight balanced and manageable for everyday riding.
The motorcycle features a telescopic front fork and Showa dual shock absorbers at the rear, tuned to offer a comfortable ride over various terrains. For braking, the Rebel 500 is equipped with:
296mm front disc
240mm rear disc
Dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety
The bike rides on Dunlop tyres, with sizes 130/90-16 (front) and 150/80-16 (rear), adding to its strong road presence and grip.
Though steeped in classic cruiser design, the Rebel 500 doesn’t shy away from tech upgrades. It comes with:
All-LED lighting setup
Round LED headlamp
Inverted LCD instrument display for clear readability
These features offer a modern riding experience while retaining the timeless aesthetic of a classic cruiser.
According to Yogesh Mathur, Director of Sales and Marketing at HMSI, the Rebel 500 has been eagerly awaited by Indian motorcycle enthusiasts.
“It has been a motorcycle that riding enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for years... With its unmistakable street presence, torquey engine, and laid-back ergonomics, the Rebel 500 is perfect for riders looking for a machine that’s both engaging and a unique extension of their soul.”
The Rebel 500 will be retailed exclusively through Honda’s BigWing Topline network, reinforcing its premium positioning in the Indian two-wheeler market. Initially, the bike will be available in three cities only—Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
