Google has started rolling out its Gemini-powered Fitbit Coach to more countries, expanding access beyond the United States. The AI-driven health coaching feature, which entered Public Preview in October, is designed to deliver personalised fitness, sleep and recovery guidance using user health data.
Alongside the regional expansion, Google is also extending the Public Preview to iOS users, enabling a wider base of Fitbit Premium subscribers to try the feature through the redesigned Fitbit app.
According to Google, Fitbit Coach is now rolling out to Fitbit Premium subscribers in:
United Kingdom
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Singapore
The feature is currently available in English and requires an active Fitbit Premium subscription.
Google confirmed that the Public Preview is also expanding to iOS users, including those in the United States and newly added regions. This marks a key step in making the AI-powered coach accessible beyond Android devices.
Google first introduced the AI-based Fitbit health coach at its Made by Google event in August, 2025. The tool is positioned as a fitness trainer, sleep coach, and wellness advisor, powered by Gemini AI.
The preview version became available in October, 2025 within the redesigned Fitbit app on supported Fitbit trackers, smartwatches, and Pixel Watches.
Fitbit Coach creates custom workout routines based on:
Individual fitness goals
Personal preferences
Available equipment
The system dynamically adjusts training schedules using real-time health data, such as recommending lighter workouts after a poor night’s sleep. Users can check in at any time to log progress, share how they feel, or request changes to their routine.
The coach includes enhanced sleep tracking, offering deeper insights into:
Sleep stages
Sleep duration
Weekly sleep patterns
It highlights recurring issues like difficulty falling asleep or disruptions caused by travel. Recovery recommendations can adjust automatically after intense workouts to support better rest and performance.
Fitbit Coach integrates data from:
Fitbit devices
Pixel Watch
Google Health Connect
Apple HealthKit
Using this broader data set, users can ask whether they should rest, exercise, or manage stress, receiving responses tailored to their personal health metrics. The system also tracks long-term trends to support smarter daily health decisions.
Google has redesigned the Fitbit app with AI coaching at its core. Key improvements include:
More intuitive layouts
Improved device syncing
Dark mode support
Simplified data visualisation for faster access to key metrics
These changes aim to make health insights easier to understand and act upon.
Google has stated that the new coach is “built on a foundation of science and expertise.” The development involved guidance from Stephen Curry’s performance team and Google’s Consumer Health Advisory Panel, which includes experts in medicine, AI, and behavioural science.
With the global rollout of Gemini-powered Fitbit Coach, Google is strengthening its push into AI-driven health and wellness tools, while also adding more value to Fitbit Premium subscriptions. The expansion reflects growing competition among tech companies to offer personalised, AI-powered fitness and wellness experiences.
