GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, a leading entity in Essar’s Green Mobility initiative, has partnered with Flipkart, India’s prominent e-commerce platform, to enhance sustainability in logistics. This collaboration aims to reduce carbon emissions by integrating GreenLine’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks into Flipkart’s supply chain operations.
In the first phase, GreenLine will deploy 25 LNG-powered trucks equipped with 46 ft containers capable of holding 110 cubic meters (CBM). These trucks will transport both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) goods across key routes. The initial focus will be on deliveries between the West and North regions of India, with plans to extend operations to North-South and West-South corridors in the future.
This partnership complements Flipkart’s ongoing sustainability initiatives, including its successful deployment of over 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in its delivery fleet. The integration of both LNG-powered and EV trucks reflects Flipkart’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing eco-friendly logistics.
Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, emphasized the environmental significance of the collaboration. “E-commerce is reshaping lives and opportunities in India, but its growth comes with environmental responsibilities. Our LNG-powered fleet is a step towards greener logistics, ensuring that every mile contributes to a cleaner future,” he remarked.
Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President at Flipkart Group, highlighted the importance of the partnership. “Integrating LNG trucks into our logistics operations, alongside EVs, underscores Flipkart’s dedication to building a sustainable future. This collaboration is a milestone in improving supply chain efficiency while supporting India’s environmental goals,” he said.
GreenLine has consistently driven sustainable mobility solutions across industries like cement, steel, FMCG, and chemicals. Over the last two years, its initiatives have achieved a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to diesel-powered vehicles, equivalent to reducing 7,398 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The GreenLine-Flipkart partnership highlights the evolving logistics sector’s potential to embrace environmentally friendly practices. By leveraging LNG and EV technologies, both companies are setting an example of how businesses can contribute to India’s broader sustainability objectives.
