Tesla has introduced a new promotional offer in India to boost sales of its Model Y electric SUV. Under the newly launched EV Switch & Save Program, customers can get an exchange bonus of up to ₹3 lakh when buying the Tesla Model Y by trading in their old petrol or diesel car. The offer is valid till March 31, 2026, for both order and delivery.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has rolled out a new scheme to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in India. As part of this initiative, buyers can receive an exchange bonus of up to ₹3,00,000 when they replace their old ICE (petrol or diesel) car with a Tesla Model Y.
The company aims to make EV ownership more affordable and encourage customers to switch from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric mobility.
To avail of the offer, customers must trade in their existing petrol or diesel vehicle while purchasing the Tesla Model Y. Tesla will evaluate the vehicle and verify all documents before approving the exchange bonus.
Key Conditions:
Maximum exchange bonus: ₹3 lakh
Applicable only on Model Y RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) variant
Both order and delivery must be completed before March 31, 2026
Vehicle documents and eligibility will be verified by Tesla
The Tesla Model Y is priced at approximately ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the standard variant, while the Long Range variant goes up to ₹67.89 lakh.
Range Details:
Standard Variant: up to 500 km on a single charge
Long Range Variant: up to 622 km on a single charge
With a ₹6,00,000 down payment, monthly EMI can start at around ₹49,000. Considering savings on fuel and maintenance, the effective monthly cost may come down to nearly ₹29,000.
Tesla is also offering a free wall connector with every Model Y purchase. This allows customers to charge their vehicle at home conveniently. The estimated running cost can be as low as ₹1 per km, making it significantly cheaper than traditional petrol or diesel vehicles.
Despite the Model Y being a globally popular electric SUV, its performance in the Indian market has been underwhelming. In 2025, Tesla reportedly sold only around 200–225 units in India.
The exchange bonus and free charger offer are part of Tesla’s strategy to attract more buyers and accelerate EV adoption in the country.
This ₹3 lakh exchange bonus can be an excellent opportunity for customers planning to replace their old petrol or diesel car with an electric SUV. With reduced upfront cost, lower running expenses, and added incentives, the Tesla Model Y becomes a more compelling EV option for Indian buyers.
