Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new, limited-period “Student Special Plan” aimed at providing affordable connectivity to students. Packed with high-speed data and unlimited calling benefits, the plan aligns with the company’s nationwide rollout of its indigenously developed 4G network.
State-owned telecom operator BSNL has announced a fresh initiative aimed at empowering two key consumer groups—students and women. BSNL CMD A. Robert J. Ravi recently revealed the company’s broader strategy to roll out customized and affordable plans designed specifically for these segments. As part of the initiative, the company introduced its new Student Special Plan coinciding with the celebration of Children’s Day.
The plan is positioned as a thoughtfully curated, pocket-friendly option for students who require consistent, high-volume data access for studies, online classes, and everyday usage.
BSNL’s Student Special Plan is available for ₹251 and offers benefits for 28 days, effectively costing users around ₹8.96 per day. This makes it one of the most economical data-heavy plans currently offered by any telecom operator in India.
The limited-time nature of the plan—available only between November 14 and December 13, 2025—adds exclusivity while encouraging students to experience BSNL’s new 4G services firsthand.
The Student Special Plan comes packed with features that appeal directly to young users. Its combination of affordability and high data volume makes it ideal for academic and entertainment needs.
Price: ₹251
Unlimited Voice Calls: Across all networks
High-Speed Data: 100GB
SMS Facility: 100 SMS per day
Eligibility: Available to all users; not restricted to new customers
Unlike promotional offers launched earlier, which were only open to new subscribers, this plan appears to be accessible to all eligible BSNL customers, making it inclusive and student-friendly.
To make the plan widely accessible, BSNL has provided several convenient channels for activation. Students can subscribe to the plan through the nearest BSNL Customer Service Centre (CSC), by calling the company’s helpline at 1800-180-1503, or by visiting the official BSNL website at bsnl.co.in.
This multi-channel availability ensures that students from urban as well as rural regions can activate the plan without difficulty.
One of the major highlights surrounding the launch of this plan is BSNL’s nationwide deployment of its homegrown 4G mobile network. CMD A. Robert J. Ravi emphasized that the Student Special Plan is not just an affordable offer but also an opportunity for users to experience India’s indigenously developed telecom technology.
Ravi explained that India has now joined an elite group of nations that have successfully built their own 4G mobile network infrastructure. BSNL has been actively working on this project for several years, and the rollout marks a major milestone in India’s technological progress.
He noted:
“India is only the fifth country in the world to develop 4G network technology, and BSNL’s deployment of this Make in India network is a significant achievement.”
The Student Special Plan, therefore, is not just a data offer but a chance for young users to participate in and support India’s technological growth.
Highlighting the purpose behind the new plan, the BSNL CMD shared that the large data quota—100GB for a month—is designed to meet the academic needs of today’s students, many of whom depend heavily on online platforms for learning and research.
He added that once students experience the improved quality, coverage, and reliability of BSNL’s new 4G services, the company expects long-term customer loyalty. The affordability and benefits combined with the pride of using a Make in India network make the plan highly attractive.
