People living in Delhi and Rajkot will very soon be getting an alternative to the app based taxi aggregators which is ‘Bharat Taxi’. This ”Bharat Taxi” will be based on a driver owned co-operative society platform, offering a fundamentally different operating model compared to established ride-hailing players.
The cooperative has been designed to provide cab drivers with a more equitable alternative than app based aggregators like Ola, Uber, and Rapido, focusing on fair earnings, collective ownership, and long-term sustainability.
So far, 56,000 drivers have registered on the Bharat Taxi app. While the testing has been completed in Delhi, a similar trial is also underway in Gujarat’s Rajkot, where it is expected to launch on February 1.
After the initial rollout, Bharat Taxi will gradually be expanded to more than 20 cities, signalling its ambition to build a nationwide presence and directly compete with major ride-hailing platforms across urban and semi-urban India.
The payment and remuneration system has also been designed to provide drivers better financial incentives. Under this model, drivers will receive up to 80 per cent of the fare directly, ensuring higher take-home earnings compared to commission-heavy platforms.
To support this structure, a monthly credit system has been built into the platform. This system aims to offer predictable income flow and better financial planning for drivers who are part of the cooperative.
Since the app will be competing with Ola, Uber and Rapido, here are five key pointers that will differentiate it from existing ride-hailing apps. Bharat Taxi will be available on both Android and iOS platforms.
Bharat Taxi Service works on a cooperative society platform where drivers are treated as members, not merely service providers. This structure promotes collective ownership, transparent operations, and fair decision-making.
By involving drivers in the ownership model, the cooperative helps build stronger trust between drivers and passengers while ensuring that earnings and benefits are distributed more equitably across the ecosystem.
Bharat Taxi Service offers all kinds of cab services to meet diverse travel needs. These include daily city rides, airport transfers, and outstation trips, allowing users to choose according to their requirements.
With access to multiple vehicle options, the service caters to individual commuters, families, and business travelers, positioning itself as a comprehensive mobility solution rather than a limited-use platform.
One of the most significant differentiators of Bharat Taxi Service is its zero commission model. Drivers keep their full earnings without paying any commission to the platform.
This approach helps reduce financial pressure on drivers, improves income stability, and encourages better service quality for passengers, creating a win-win model for both sides.
Bharat Taxi Service supports instant booking, enabling users to book a cab quickly through the app. The booking process is designed to be simple, fast, and user-friendly.
The quick confirmation system ensures passengers do not have to wait long, making it especially useful during emergencies or last-minute travel plans.
Bharat Taxi Service is emerging as a strong alternative to Ola and Uber, especially for users who value ethical business practices and driver welfare.
With cooperative ownership, zero commission, and reliable services, the platform focuses on fairness and sustainability, offering a more people-friendly ride-hailing option in India’s rapidly evolving mobility market.
