Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has achieved a major milestone by crossing 500 Experience Centres across the country. The expansion highlights the company’s aggressive retail growth strategy, driven by rising demand for its electric scooters, including the popular Rizta family scooter. With plans to scale up to 700 Experience Centres by FY26, Ather is now focusing on deeper penetration in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, particularly in Middle and North India.
In just the last three months (June–August 2025), Ather Energy added 101 new outlets, strengthening its footprint across the country. More than 58 centres were established in Middle and North India, covering cities such as Agra, Jabalpur, Mandsaur, Sundargarh, Vadodara, and Bilaspur.
Middle India expansion includes Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
The expansion also includes tier 2 and tier 3 cities such as Calicut, Indore, Nashik, Coimbatore, Guntur, Haldwani, Satara, Kota, Kangra, and Aizwal, highlighting Ather’s intent to go beyond metro markets.
According to Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, crossing 500 centres represents an important milestone in the company’s growth journey. He emphasized that while South India remains Ather’s strongest market, the success of Rizta has accelerated growth in Middle and North India as well.
Phokela added that the company is focusing on reaching deeper into tier 2 and tier 3 cities, where the consumer response has been equally encouraging. Ather’s target is to cross 700 Experience Centres by the end of FY26, making its EVs more accessible nationwide.
The retail expansion has had a direct impact on market performance.
Ather’s national market share grew to 14.3% in Q1 FY26, up from 7.6% in Q1 FY25.
In Middle India, Ather’s market share rose 2.6 times year-on-year, reaching 10.7%.
The company continues to dominate South India with a 22.8% market share in Q1 FY25.
This growth is fueled by consumer trust in Ather’s product lineup, technology innovations, and charging network.
Ather’s retail network is particularly strong in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, each of which hosts more than 50 Experience Centres.
Bengaluru leads the chart with 18 centres.
Pune and Hyderabad follow with 13 each.
Delhi has 9 centres, while Mumbai and Chennai have 8 each.
This regional presence ensures better accessibility for both metro and non-metro customers.
Ather currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, responsible for vehicle assembly and battery production. To meet growing demand, a third facility is under construction in Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
Once operational, this new plant will push Ather’s annual production capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers, further cementing its leadership in the EV sector.
Ather’s product range includes the 450 series of performance scooters and the Rizta family scooter range, catering to both urban commuters and families. Recent innovations include:
EL platform for next-generation scooters
AtherStack 7.0 with voice interaction
Infinite Cruise feature for the 2025 Ather 450 Apex
Touchscreen functionality for the Rizta Z
These advancements underline Ather’s commitment to innovation and customer convenience.
Alongside its retail expansion, Ather is also growing its Ather Grid charging network, which had 4,032 chargers worldwide as of June 30, 2025. This includes:
3,997 chargers in India
35 chargers in Nepal and Sri Lanka
This extensive network strengthens Ather’s value proposition by addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption—charging infrastructure.
Ather continues to invest heavily in intellectual property and innovation. As of June 30, 2025, the company holds:
318 registered trademarks
204 registered designs
48 registered patents
Additionally, Ather has pending applications for 88 trademarks, 27 designs, and 383 patents globally, showcasing its long-term focus on technology leadership.
Conclusion
Ather Energy’s milestone of 500 Experience Centres represents not just retail growth but also growing consumer confidence in India’s EV ecosystem. With aggressive expansion plans, strong product innovations, and a robust charging network, the company is well-positioned to shape the future of electric mobility in India. Its journey towards 700 centres by FY26 reflects a strong commitment to making EV adoption more widespread and accessible.
