Apple is preparing to further expand its physical retail footprint in India, with Hyderabad emerging as the next major destination. The development comes as the iPhone-maker continues to deepen its presence across key Indian markets, supported by strong sales momentum, expanding manufacturing operations, and rising premium smartphone demand.
According to job listings published on Apple’s official careers portal, the company has started hiring for a new retail store in Hyderabad. Open roles include Store Leader, Senior Manager, and Genius, indicating early groundwork for a full-fledged Apple Store in the city.
Apple typically begins recruitment close to a year before a store becomes operational. Based on this timeline, the Hyderabad outlet is likely to open in early 2027, positioning the city as Apple’s next major brick-and-mortar destination.
Hyderabad’s status as one of India’s fastest-growing technology and startup hubs makes it a strategic choice for Apple’s expanding retail strategy.
The Hyderabad hiring push comes even as Apple gears up to open another retail store in Mumbai next month, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its physical presence in top urban markets.
In December, Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail and People, underlined this long-term focus during an interaction with Moneycontrol.
“We have been innovating and delivering exceptional products and services in India for over 25 years, building meaningful connections with customers and communities, and this next phase of growth reflects our continued commitment to India with another store opening in Mumbai as our retail journey expands with energy and purpose,” she had said.
Apple entered India’s physical retail space in 2023 with its first flagship stores in Mumbai and Delhi, following the launch of its online Apple Store in 2020. Since then, the company has steadily expanded into additional metropolitan markets.

The Noida store, inaugurated in December, marked Apple’s third retail launch in 2025, highlighting the pace at which the company is scaling its retail operations.
With Hyderabad now in focus and another Mumbai store set to open soon, Apple’s India retail map continues to expand steadily.
India has also played a significant role in Apple’s global retail strategy. The country became the second market worldwide after the United States to introduce Shop with a Specialist over Video.
In-store and online retail services available in India include:
Personal Setup
Trade In programs
Assistance for switching to iOS
Data transfer support
Today at Apple creative and learning sessions
These initiatives are aimed at improving customer engagement, especially among first-time Apple buyers.
Apple’s retail push aligns with broader business momentum in India, driven by rising demand for premium devices, improved channel execution, and deeper penetration beyond major metros.
According to Counterpoint Research, Apple recorded 28 percent year-on-year shipment growth in India in 2025, significantly outperforming the overall smartphone market, which grew by just 1 percent in volume.
The company also achieved its highest-ever annual value share in India, supported by accelerating premiumisation trends.
The iPhone 16 emerged as the top-shipped smartphone model in India during the year, marking the highest annual shipment share ever achieved by an iPhone in the country.
Analysts attributed Apple’s strong performance to:
Improved channel execution
Wider reach through multi-brand outlets
Expansion of premium reseller networks
Growing presence in smaller cities
Apple CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly described India as one of the company’s most important growth markets.
On January 30, Cook revealed that Apple set a December quarter revenue record in India, driven by strong sales across multiple product categories.
“We did set a quarterly revenue record during the December quarter, and to go a little further down, we set quarterly revenue records on iPhone and Mac and iPad, and an all-time revenue record on services. So, it was a terrific quarter in India. We really like what we see there,” Cook said.
While specific figures were not disclosed, Cook highlighted the scale of the opportunity ahead.
Calling India the world’s second-largest smartphone market and fourth-largest PC market, Cook acknowledged that Apple’s current share remains modest.
“We think there’s a huge opportunity for us there, and we could not be more excited about it,” he said.
He also noted that a majority of customers purchasing iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Watch in India are new to Apple products, underlining the long runway for growth.
With hiring underway for a Hyderabad store and another Mumbai outlet set to open shortly, Apple’s India retail expansion appears firmly on track. Backed by strong shipment growth, rising premium demand, and increasing brand penetration, Apple continues to strengthen its position in one of its most important global markets.
