Apple’s Big Week: Affordable Devices and Powerful Upgrades Unveiled

Apple Expands Product Lineup With Global Announcements

During a series of hands-on media events held in New York, London, and Shanghai, Tim Cook confirmed a “big week” of launches for Apple Inc.. The company introduced several new products including the iPhone 17e, MacBook Neo, updated iPad Air, refreshed MacBook Pro models, and new display monitors.

The announcement comes at a time when Apple is experiencing strong financial momentum. The company recently reported record quarterly earnings largely driven by the success of the iPhone 17 lineup. Despite this growth, Apple is still working to deliver the advanced AI upgrades promised earlier for its voice assistant, Siri.

With these new launches, Apple appears focused on reaching budget-conscious buyers while still enhancing its high-performance devices.

iPhone 17e: A Budget-Friendly iPhone With Flagship Performance

One of the biggest announcements of the week is the introduction of the iPhone 17e, Apple’s latest affordable smartphone option. Starting at $599, the device is designed to deliver strong performance while keeping the price significantly lower than the standard iPhone 17.

The iPhone 17e features the same A19 chip found in the base iPhone 17, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks, gaming, and multitasking. Apple has also doubled the standard storage to 256GB, compared to the 128GB offered in the previous iPhone 16e model.

Photography capabilities have been improved with a 48-megapixel camera system, offering sharper photos and enhanced detail. Additionally, the phone includes the new C1X modem, which promises faster cellular connectivity and improved network efficiency.

The display is slightly smaller and less bright compared with the base iPhone 17, but it still includes Apple’s Super Retina display technology and the durable Ceramic Shield 2 protection. Apple has also integrated MagSafe with Qi2 support, enabling easier and faster wireless charging.

The phone will be available in black, white, and light pink, offering a stylish yet affordable option for consumers.

iPad Air Gets Performance Boost With M4 Chip

Apple also refreshed its popular iPad Air lineup by introducing a version powered by the M4 chip. While the more expensive iPad Pro models now feature the newer M5 chip, the M4 processor still delivers excellent performance for streaming, browsing, productivity, and even light video editing.

One notable upgrade is the increase in RAM from 8GB to 12GB, which Apple introduced without raising the price. This boost improves multitasking and overall responsiveness.

The updated iPad Air comes in two sizes:

  • 11-inch model starting at $599

  • 13-inch model starting at $799

Both variants include 128GB of base storage and optional cellular versions equipped with the improved C1X modem for faster mobile connectivity.

MacBook Pro Receives Powerful M5 Chip Upgrades

Apple’s professional laptop lineup has also received a major performance upgrade. The new MacBook Pro models now feature the powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage and is priced at $2,199, which is $200 higher than the previous generation. Meanwhile, the 16-inch MacBook Pro begins at $2,699, also reflecting a $200 increase.

Both models now support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, improving connectivity speeds. However, Apple has kept the display and front-facing camera largely unchanged.

Users who need extra power can upgrade to higher-tier M5 Pro or M5 Max chips and expand RAM up to 48GB.

MacBook Neo Targets Budget Laptop Market

A completely new device called the MacBook Neo was introduced as Apple’s most affordable laptop yet. This 13-inch laptop runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro.

The entry model includes:

  • 256GB storage

  • 8GB RAM

  • Two USB-C ports

An upgraded 512GB version also includes a Touch ID sensor.

The MacBook Neo starts at $599, while the upgraded version costs $699. Apple is also offering $100 discounts for students and educators, positioning the laptop as a strong competitor to budget Chromebooks and entry-level Windows laptops.

MacBook Air and Studio Displays Also Updated

Apple also revealed an updated MacBook Air powered by the base M5 chip. The laptop now includes 512GB base storage, double that of the previous model.

Pricing starts at:

  • $1,099 for the 13-inch version

  • $1,299 for the 15-inch version

Additionally, Apple introduced refreshed Studio Display monitors, including the premium Studio Display XDR.

Both displays feature 5K resolution, 12MP Centre Stage cameras, six-speaker audio systems, and multiple Thunderbolt 5 and USB-C ports. The XDR model adds mini-LED backlighting and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for creative professionals and HDR content creators.

The standard Studio Display starts at $1,599, while the Studio Display XDR is priced at $3,299.
