In a significant move to boost employment in India, the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment and global e-commerce giant Amazon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to generate 20 lakh jobs by the end of 2025. The agreement aims to leverage Amazon’s vast platform to create direct and indirect job opportunities across various sectors, providing a substantial push to India’s employment landscape.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “An important MoU has been signed between the Labour Ministry and Amazon. The National Career Service (NCS) Portal of the Labour Ministry is becoming very popular. More than 33 lakh establishments, which are job-providing institutions, are linked to this single platform, and crores of people seeking jobs or those with job requirements are also connected to it," said Dr. Mandaviya.
This partnership between the Indian government and Amazon is expected to pave the way for multi-sectoral employment opportunities in areas such as Information Technology (IT), e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, and event management. It will also cater to sectors like content creation, skill development, and manpower management.
