This pandemic is literally a curse for those who are consumed by ‘wanderlust’; when the situation will get even a little better, new places would be rocked and discovered by such souls. Traveling is not all about fun and memories, we need to look at it from a wider angle, it’s a miracle for our overall well being. It connects us with nature, the present moment and events happening around us, as a result, it has a great therapeutic effect on our stress, anxiety and depression. It encourages emotional wellbeing and positive emotions.

Trips taken for leisure and exploration are fulfilling to the soul, a jaunt for eating or simply ‘a food travel’ is really enjoyable, a tour for spiritual motives are the satisfying ones. Traveling whether, with family or friends or emerging self as a ‘solo traveler, both are energy boosters and help in improving mood. Former is great for fun new experiences and memories. The latter helps to reinvent ourselves. Traveling alone and coming face to face with the challenges and overcoming them embolden our resilience, helping us adapt to life and circumstances around us.

Traveling pushes us out of our comfort zone and provides us with the opportunity to be active and be strong. Our plans motivate us and instill energy and happy feelings in us even before the journey starts, thus lowering cortisol levels. It expands our minds to think with new standards, adds purpose to our being, helps us get independent and regains our lost confidence. We meet new people and feel connected.

Making us more organized and letting us have better control over our life, traveling means making our way through the crowded historic streets under the sun, giving the pleasure of regional dishes to our taste buds, struggling to get to the mountain top, coping up with language barriers and espouse different cultures. Don’t be stuck in a rut, make space for new events and escapades. Life feels more fulfilling then. Traveling gives rise to stronger self-esteem as every successful journey gives a sense of achievement, making it a long term mood booster with all happy memories. It's a form of self-care which is a stress buster, helps us to recharge and rejuvenate and even overcome PTSD. Our journeys about discovering new places become a diary of many exhilarating experiences. It does wonders for mental and emotional health.

So take a road to recovery. The benefits of traveling go beyond connecting to people and making exciting memories, it's about encountering many challenges and fighting them. We relate our life with our excursions and come out of every chaos as something stronger than before and more beautiful.
“A long stretch of road can teach you more about yourself than a hundred years of quiet”- Patrick Roth fuss.
