News Synopsis

Telecom Branch of Reliance Industries Ltd.- Reliance JIO has suffered a massive setback in India as it lost 13 million subscribers in the month of December, last year. It is the company’s second-largest fall in the number of users as it nearly lost 19 million subscribers in the month of September in the same year. In terms of total and active subscribers, Jio is still leading the way. On the other hand, with just 416 million subscribers, JIO has a long way to achieve the company’s goal to acquire 500 million subscribers set up by its chairman Mukesh Ambani. Another telecom operator VI also went through the same fate as JIO  as it lost 1.6 million in the same month. Only Airtel was able to gain close to 0.5 million subscribers. However, Jio surpassed VI in terms of active subscribers rates and achieved the second rank. Airtel is still ruling the top with a 98% active users rate.
