Volkswagen unveils new mid-sized sedan Virtus in India

Volkswagen has revealed its new mid-sized sedan ‘Virtus’ in India. The company has also commenced the pre-booking of the new model. The company plans to launch the model in May this year.

The Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, Ashish Gupta has said that the Virtus carries the global sedan lineage of the Volkswagen brand, with the sales of 129 models across its 61 years of presence in the sedan segment world. 

He added that Virtus will win the hearts of its customers with its dynamic and emotional design language, spacious interiors, functionality and TSI technology. The sedan is the second product under its India 2.0 project to be developed on the MQB A0 IN platform with up to a 95% localization layer.

Volkswagen also plans to export the new model to more than 25 markets across the globe in addition to the domestic market. The new mid-sized Virtus comes with 1 litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol powertrains, mated with both manual and automatic transmissions. 

The 1-litre petrol trims would deliver 115 PS of power, and the 1.5-litre variants would generate 150 PS of power. The new model also has various features like an electric sunroof, wireless mobile charging, front ventilated leather seats and up to 6 airbags.
