The farm laws implemented in 2020 witnessed huge protests by the farmers themselves. It is believed that such laws will hand the agriculture sector into the hands of some private player which will result in chaos for farmers. The second wave overshadowed the protest that was highlighted on regular basis. Multiple negotiations were held, and farmers were more than happy to get amendments to the law. But with the course of time, the negotiation didn’t prove to be useful, and the farmers demanded to repeal the law. I have talked to certain farmers and the notion among them is simple. The laws made for the farmers are not accepted by the farmers themselves, then repeal them. The current hint of the decision by the supreme court special panel provides a positive response to farmers. Although they do not agree the laws should be taken back, they all agree that there are many defects in the law that needs to be changed immediately. Hopefully, this decision will be in favour of the long protest of the farmers.
