News Synopsis

A Russian court has banned the 61 Smartphone models of Samsung. The company is now prohibited to import and sell these models in the country due to an intellectual property lawsuit because of the Samsung Pay system. A lawsuit was filed against the company by a Switzerland-based company SQWIN SA, claiming that Samsung Pay violates its electronic payment system patent registered in Russia.

Samsung has not said anything about the case other than that the case is currently on appeal. The original court decision is dated July 27, but the names of the devices were not named, leading the Swiss company to file another appeal in August.  The October ruling also clarified the models that were to be banned from importing and selling in the country.
