News Synopsis

Rucept has raised an undisclosed amount in its seed funding round led by Arka Venture Labs along with the participation of Silicon Valley investors. It is planning to use the fund to expand its team, operations and infrastructure.

Founded in 2019, Rucept, is an in-app merchandise platform for video games. It enables the game creators to display custom merchandise and blockchain-based digital merchandise inside apps or websites. 

It increases engagement, retention and profitability for studios and creators. Rucept also said that it works with US-based studios Electronic Arts and Disney and has a growing list of clients across the globe.

The gaming industry is much bigger and most of the titles have game assets that studios want to license to make collectables and other merchandise. With the metaverse going mainstream, it is set to be a $150 billion market. The market for licensed merchandise is already worth $360 billion.

The CEO at Rucept, Mudit Khurana has said that the internet has made it easy for creators to publish and distribute their content. He said that it has still not fully materialised for physical products.
