Pramod Rai New SEBI ED

Pramod Rao, who served as group General Counsel at ICICI Bank and oversaw the legal department strategically, has been appointed the new Executive Director at The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from July 15. The SEBI, while making the announcement, said that Pramod Rao will be in charge of the Department of Debt and Hybrid Securities as well as the Department of Enquiry and Adjudication.

After Madhabi Puri Buch, who joined SEBI as a full-time member in 2017 and assumed the position of chairwoman on March 1, 2022, Rao is the second senior hire from the ICICI Group. With Rao's appointment, there are now 11 EDs. Manoj Kumar and Sunil Kumar, the chief general managers, were elevated to executive directors earlier this year.

SEBI is the regulatory body for securities and commodity market in India under the ownership of Ministry of Finance , Government of India.
