NFDC, Netflix announced a virtual scriptwriting programme for women

News Synopsis

To commemorate International Women's Day, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) announced on Tuesday a virtual training program for 100 screenwriters in partnership with the streaming platform Netflix.

According to a press release, the programme is designed for industry professionals, freelance writers, scholars to educate and empower the Indian creative community with more gender-friendly media and entertainment.

In addition, participants will complete the program after submitting the script within 30 days of completing the training. Each participant will be extensively evaluated by a joint committee of NFDC and Netflix officials.

The final score-based screenplay will have the opportunity to be selected at the NFDC Screenwriting Lab or the NFDC Film Bazaar.

According to the press release,  participants will have the opportunity to train with veteran screenwriter Munish Bhardwaj, a filmmaker known for films such as Moh Maya Money, Ankhon Dekhi and Everything is Fine.
