Google to Spend $1 Billion to Bring Employees Back to Offices

News Synopsis

Google is planning to spend $1 billion on a new office building in London. The tech giant announced that the company is purchasing the Central Saint Giles development that is based in central London. Google already has the building on lease and is planning to buy the building to increase the number of employees from 6,400 to 10,000 in the country.

The vice president of the company, Ronan Harris has said that most of the UK’s staff want flexibility in working from the office and from home for some days in a week. Whereas some want to work totally remotely. The company is planning to provide a comfortable environment to its employees with the new building.

Ronan Harris has also said that the new building will have quiet zones, lounge areas, team pods, and outdoor covered working spaces that would allow the employees to work in the fresh air. The new building will also have a campfire space along with circular meeting rooms. Google has said that the $1 billion office will be a place for in-person collaboration and connection for the employees.
