Google Messages Bug Causing Problems for Users

A new bug in Google Messages can leave the camera on in the background of smartphones, quickly draining the battery and causing the device to heat up. According to 9To5Google, the Google Messages app has an easy way to quickly snap a photo to instantly attach it to your message and send it to your friends.

The view for attaching photos in the gallery also has a live feed from the camera, where you can take an instant snapshot from this thumbnail or zoom in to make it easier to see.

In its recent update, a bug in the app leaves the camera feed running even when it is not on the screen, including when messages are in the background. The report also mentioned the easiest way to stop the issue at the moment is to close the application from the recent views. Users can stop the issue by denying the app permission to use the phone’s camera if they do not use the Google Messages viewfinder.
