Farmers call off year long Protests, as Government agrees to their Demands

News Synopsis

The farmers protesting at the Delhi borders have finally decided to end their year-long protest as the government has finally agreed to fulfill their demands. The farmers have been in a protest for over a year after the government of India introduced three new farm bills.

The demands of farmers included the withdrawal of all agitation-related cases all around the country, compensation to the families of farmers who passed away during the protest, removal of criminal liability for stubble burning, and a policy on MSP and its procurement all around the country. 

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has said that the central government will bring in necessary bills to repeal the farm laws in the winter session of Parliament. The Farm Laws Repeal Bill was passed on the first day of the winter session on November 29. He also assured the constitution of a committee for the framing of MSP.
